Gary Thompson
Garry is 42 years old. He lives with Tina and son Jack in Silsden, where he works as an Engineer.
Garry throws a 21 gram dart and is currently an ‘A’ team player. He also plays in local league aswel as doing the competition circuit both home and abroad.
He started playing darts in 1986 at the age of 21 with his dad in the local pub. He got his call up for Yorkshire in 1999 he moved into the ‘A’ team in 2001.
His high points in darts have been getting picked for Yorkshire, Playing for England and winning the 2007 Dutch Open pairs with team mate Scott Waites.
His low point was screwing up the finish when playing for England. His ambition is to play in the World Championship.
His personal comment on darts was: “Just enjoy the game and not to put too much pressure on yourself because that’s when the enjoyment goes out of it”
My comments on Garry are that I have never come across such a laidback player, he never seems to get flustered or nervous and takes everything in his stride which I am sure has contributed to his success.  I am sure many of us would play a lot better if only we were able to emulate him.
