Below you will find two lists of Baptisms Pre 1837 that I have
accumulated over the past 25 years of research.
For after 1837 please see
my Wassell/Wassall Births Index.
There are two main concentrations of people with the name WASSALL/WASSELL and variants. The biggest group is that which originated in the Black Country area of England, (covering such counties as Worcestershire, Staffordshire, Warwickshire and Shropshire) which I have called the "North". The other smaller group originated in Hampshire, London and the Home Counties of England, which I have called the "South". Although people moved around the country, even from the earliest times, I have not been able to find a connection between these two groups. My own line of WASSELL's come from the "South" group. The letters in the boxes refer to the Christian Name of the baptised person.
There are many other WASSELL's and variants that existed, but for which there are no surviving baptism entry, so they will not be on the lists.
If you have a baptism that is not on either list, I would be most grateful if you could let me know.
