THE RED LION’S WELL

A large picture of the well

(The 16th/17th Century Well)

A picture of the top of the wellA view of the top of the well. This picture shows the inlaid brass plaque, and the glass cover which allows those of a curious nature to view the eerie depths of the well. The inscription on the plaque reads, “The Village Well, Circa 1600. 86ft deep and believed to be the last resting place of at least one unfortunate villager.”

A picture of the inside of the well...and finally, a view looking down the well. After all these years there is still water at the bottom of the well, which is made visible by the reflection of the light on its surface (centre of picture).
