A.J.Williams
(Birmingham) Ltd. was founded in June 1981 manufacturing press tooling
for the automotive and domestic appliance industries. It was the
amalgamation of two family businesses, Munro & Williams Precision
Ltd; specialists in tool making and, A.J.Williams (Tamworth) Ltd.,
specialists in pressure die castings, predominantly for the region's
automotive business.

The
new company soon expanded and trebled it's work force in the first
year. Presswork was introduced at the request of several customers
and within three years had outgrown the original core tool making
business. Diversification into gas fire guard production further
increased the company's diversity and turnover, leading it to move
into a new 6000 square feet unit in 1986.

|
During
the next 4 years production soared to over one million pressings
a month. In November 1990 Anthony James Williams became sole Managing
Director and sought to consolidate the company's success by investing
in quality and new technology. Quality standard B.S.5750 part 2
was achieved in April 1991 and Wire Erosion installed in the tool
room in July 1991, all new tooling now being fully designed on CAD.

|
Five
years on and in 1995 the company moved again to accommodate its
continued growth, to its present site which offered 10,000 square
feet. Quality was further improved to incorporate the more complex
designs that the company are producing today, featuring multi-stage
progression tooling up to 300 tonnes for even better design control.
The company's success being further endorsed with the ISO 9001 Quality
Standard.

New
projects are always being introduced which have further diversified
the range of work produced. The business now services the industries
of automotive, agricultural, white goods and general engineering
and supplies companies in both the UK and Europe. Their goal is
to attract more business from Europe and intensify their quality
leadership in the metalwork and pressings industry.
