The Battle of Torrington was the last major conflict of the Civil War involving 15,000 troops. The town was occupied by The Prince of Wales' Army led by Lords Hopton, Capel and Wentworth.

On the night of February 16th 1646, the town was taken by the parliamentary New Model Army led by Sir Thomas Fairfax and Oliver Cromwell.

'Torrington 1646' is a great place to visit and is an unique experience. We contributed a large model of the battle which you can see on display at the centre (It has also been on TV !).
