1. Snowboarding in the Pyrenees - Highlights |
Nine different ski stations from "Ibiza on Snow" in Pas de la Casa to "Farmer's Shed" in Boí Taüll. |
Took the car and drove over 3000 miles from Bilbao to Boulogne, including several dirt tracks and a number of mountain roads masquerading as ice rinks. 4x4 was essential. |
Travelled through three countries; Spain, France and Andorra, but managed thirteen border crossings . |
Innumerable jumps on the snowboard, including one 20 metres long in Spain, and later in France, one which broke Adrian's wrist. |
Covered about 400km of piste (including a big chunk of off-piste) |
Stayed in 25 hotels/apartments/farms and one night in an unbelievably cold tent. |
Did an 18 mile hike over 3 Pyreneean peaks, followed by a hitch-hike back with a drunk driver. |
We managed to drink about 16 gallons of gassy San Miguel, but made up for it by luckily passing through the Beaujolais and Burgundy wine regions (pure chance of course) |
By way of intellectual stimulation, we attained the heady heights of Chapter 14 in "Living Spanish", onto such thorny ground as the conditional indicative tense and radical changing verbs. |
Grew one beard (me not Katie). Well, it's mandatory for Board Bums isn't it. |
