| Hong Kong is definitely not the place to go if you're on a tight travellers' budget. We more than doubled our normal budget and still found we could barely afford to get by. A pint of Guinness in happy hour costs around 5 US dollars, and we all know that Guinness is one of life's bare necessities. We'd been eating three healthy meals a day for that in India! Unfortunately the major 'attraction' in Hong Kong is the shopping, which is not much fun when you haven't got any wedge. The whole place is one endless shopping mall. You could lose yourself for tens of years in these places and emerge an old man. We visited M&S and bought a couple of cans of St Michael coke. That was about the sum of it. It was a relief to escape. | ![]() Hong Kong Island from Kowloon |
