The Abbeyfield Bamburgh Society, which is a non-profit making organisation, exists to make older people’s lives easier and more fulfilling. It provides the privacy and security that a resident seeks after the burden of managing their own home.
At Armstrong House, donated by Lord Armstrong in 1970 and now The Armstrong Home which is a charitable trust registered with the Charity Commission, residents are free from the worries of maintaining a house and gardens, paying bills and dealing with loneliness. They have their own private rooms which are fitted out with their own furniture and personal belongings. They can come and go as they please remaining independent and active, receiving visitors and enjoying two cooked meals a day. They are encouraged to have their own transport which can be kept at the house. On top of all that, they have a resident house manager and a network of local volunteers.
