ORGANISATION
STAFF
A Housekeeper supported by a Deputy has general responsibility for the welfare of the residents and the running of the House. The Society encourages training for all the staff which ensures a high standard throughout the house.
MEALS
Two main meals are served daily in the dining room. Luncheon at 12.30 p.m. and High Tea at 5.30 p.m. There is an excellent varied menu and meals are freshly cooked and served. Food is provided for residents to enjoy a quiet breakfast in their own room.
SAFETY
The front door is secured at all times. Residents have their own keys but anyone requiring access to the building must summon a member of staff using the front door bell. The building was designed with careful attention to personal security and the Fire Officer's requirements. These include smoke detectors in all rooms and fire doors which are held open by electromagnetic devices until afire alarm is sounded. Regular fire drills take place. An efficient Call System is available for emergencies. Personal furnishings such as armchairs, bed and bedding must be of fire retardant material which meets the 1988 Safety Regulations. Electrical equipment such as toasters, radios, lamps etc., in residents' rooms are tested annually by the House Electrician. Suitable equipment and fittings help the residents.
INSURANCE
The Society insures the House, all property in the public rooms and any furnishing lent to a resident. Employees of the Society are covered by a Personal Risk and Injury policy. Residents are requested to make a list of their own property when they take up residence but should insure their personal possessions.
