Austin Healey 3000

I once had this Austin Healey 3000 MkIII BJ8. The BJ8 was the last of the big Healeys, providing fast stylish transport for the gentleman sportscar driver of the sixties and the basis for some awesome rally cars. The combination of drop-dead-gorgeous looks and men-from-the-boys handling (*) makes them as attractive today as they were then, and the exhaust note is music to the ears of any petrol head.

Specifications:

• Three litre straight six twin carb engine.
• Four speed gearbox plus overdrive.
• Fold away double duck hood and tonneau cover.
• Two plus two seating.
• Max speed 120mph apparently, but I was too scared by the worm and wheel steering to go that fast.
