Which aspect of my work or research are you interested in?
Dr. Adrian E. Williams B.Sc. (Hons.), M.Sc. (D.), M.I.F.M., C.Env.
My research interests are in aquatic ecology, mainly, but not solely, freshwaters. My interests are diverse covering lotic and lentic systems, temperate and tropical climates and the flora, fauna and physical processes occurring in each.
Essentially I wish to understand how aquatic systems work and gain an insight into the many and varied interactions that exist between the components that they are comprised of.
Broadly my interests lie within:
Impacts of invasive species on aquatic ecosystems (I have worked on Common carp in the UK and Water hyacinth in Lake Victoria)
Interactions between fish, macro-invertebrates, plankton, macrophytes, algae and nutrients (Have a look at some of my Ph.D. work)
Top-down and bottom-up processes in lakes (My Ph.D. again)
Eutrophication and its prevention or amelioration (Includes work on Cheshire lakes [meres])
River and stream ecology (Mountainous streams formed a large part of my M.Sc.)
Biodiversity, conservation, and sustainable management of aquatic systems (All my work is covered under this heading!)
Fish ecology, behaviour and biology (I have worked extensively on freshwater tropical and temperate fish - see my CV)
Macro-invertebrate ecology, behaviour and biology (I have worked widely on tropical and temperate macro-invertebrates - see my CV)
