Alan "Deadly" Dedicoat (born December 1954, in Hollywood, Worcestershire) is a senior
British continuity announcer for BBC Radio who can also be heard on BBC Television.
He leads a team of 15 announcers and is also a regular sidekick to Sir Terry Wogan
on Radio 2's breakfast programme, "Wake Up to Wogan", where he is most commonly known
as "Deadly".
He is also known as the "Voice of the Balls" on the National Lottery
TV programmes on BBC One.
He was educated at King Edward VI Camp Hill for Boys in
Birmingham, and the University of Birmingham.
He worked for four years at BBC Pebble
Mill as a station assistant for BBC Radio Birmingham, and then for four more years
in Plymouth and Exeter as a producer/presenter for BBC Radio Devon.
In 1987, Alan
joined the Presentation Department of BBC Radio 2 at Broadcasting House in London
as an announcer.
Since May 1995, Alan has been providing live commentary for the National Lottery
draw shows on BBC Television.
2005 saw him make his US TV debut as the voice-over
announcer for ABC's Dancing with the Stars.
He is the co-owner of a Routemaster (one
of London's famous red buses) with Charles Nove, Ken Bruce, Steve Madden and David
Sheppard.
