Guidelines for
Group Membership
Our prime concern and belief is that this
kind of work demands that the group is a safe environment. Therefore we believe
the following guidelines are necessary to ensure all clients benefit as much as
possible:-
All clients need to be adult survivors of childhood/adolescent sexual abuse
where the abuse took place before their 16th birthday and they are presently
over 18 years of age.
Clients need to believe it will be helpful to explore and share the effects of
their trauma. They need to have the personal capacity and / or external support
to manage themselves and their feelings between groups as well as during groups.
Clients are responsible for arranging their own transport to and from meetings.
Experience shows that people suffering from enduring serious mental illness
would not benefit from membership of this group.
Similarly, people experiencing problems with alcohol/substance misuse, severe
eating disorders and those attending any other form of group therapy
simultaneously would not benefit from this work and therefore
would not be able to join.
The Charity will not allow membership of the group to any perpetrators of
sexual abuse or those with a tendency towards violent behaviour.
Any applicants who ,through friendship, relationship or family, know any current
member of a group could only join after that person’s group membership ceased.
