TRAINING
Over the years we have been involved in this work, we have been very disturbed by the lack of training in all fields, voluntary and statutory, for people who through the course of their work come into contact with survivors.
We do not pretend to have all the answers but wish to share the expertise we have gained to benefit all and give understanding and room to explore issues.
As a charity we also have to find funding so we have an Annual Training Day at the beginning of the year.
Over the last few years we have covered various subjects:
Complimentary not Conflicting [how group work can compliment one to one]
Survivors - Why don't they tell??
Our next scheduled course is:
Survivors - Tough Love Works??
This is an experiential training day. By the end
of the day participants should:
Be able to recognise the necessity for boundaries and limits in the lives and
care of survivors.
Be very clear about the difference between empathy and sympathy.
Be able to recognise when extremes of sympathy and concern can be unhelpful and
even damaging.
This day course was due to take place on Friday 26th January 2007 at Farington Lodge, Stanifield Lane, Leyland. Sadly we did not get enough enquiries to cover the cost of running the day. We now hope to do this in the future, possibly in January 2008.
The cost of our day course including all refreshments and a 2 course lunch is £80 per delegate.
There is a reduced fee of £30 for volunteers.
If you are interested in attending a future training day please email your details to:
