The Balanescu Quartet

Since 1987 the Balanescu quartet have lead the field of contemporary music, and have gained a favorable reputation for their strength and passion. Lead by Alexander Balanescu members of the group have changed over the years and include. On 2nd Violin, Clare Connors, John Carney, Chris Clad, Thomas Pilz, Steve Bentley Cline, Theodor Tomulescu, and now James Shenton.

On Viola, Kate Musker, Bill Hawkes, Andy Parker, Paul Martin, Ben Pollini, Chris Pitsillides, and now again Kate Musker.

On cello Tony Hinnigan, Caroline Dale, Nick Cooper, Sian Bell, Dave Cunliffe, Nick Holland, and now Tony Hinnigan.

The sound engineer has been an essential part of the sound, as an electrified ensemble. The "fifth" member for live performance has been for many years Dave Kent.
