Last year's show:
Over
1000 visitors enjoyed The Brighton Baby Show 2001 on Sunday
18th November at The Corn Exchange, Brighton, which proved
to be an even greater success than the previous years
event.
SMA
Nutrition, the UKs leading infant milk formula
manufacturer, sponsored the show, and Action
Research, one of the UKs leading medical charities
was once again the nominated charity for The Brighton
Baby Show.
Colourful balloons and various banners promoting different
baby companies decorated the arena, as nearly 50 exhibitors
specialising in baby products/services packed The Corn
Exchange.
The atmosphere at the show buzzed as parents-to-be and
new parents deliberated over hiring a birthing pool, learnt
about the alternatives to using disposal nappies, experimented
with the latest baby product and sampled home cooked baby
food, before shopping for that something less ordinary
for their little one.
Local Parent Support groups were on hand to answer any
queries on current childcare issues and the sponsors SMA
Nutrition provided infant nutrition advice.
Far from being bored toddlers and children enjoyed the
teddy Bears picnic organised by Action
Research, as part of their 50th anniversary celebrations,
where donated teddies gathered before heading off to the
local special baby care unit and the childrens wards.
Paddington Bear, the charities mascot, made several surprise
visits during the day greeting visitors and providing
cuddles for the children and free entertainment for the
under 5s provided by Absolute Fun and a local music
group, was available throughout the day.
So whilst weary parents unwound with a head and neck massage,
or relaxed with a cup of tea and a slice of cake from
the refreshment area, children expelled their last drops
of energy on the bouncy castle, dancing or playing instruments
with the local music group or imaging they were the character
painted on their face before heading home with their colourful
souvenir balloon trailing behind them.
The

were on hand to offer advice to mums-to-be and new parents,
such as The Breastfeeding drop-in, N.C.T. and Ecstatic Birth.
Throughout the day informal demonstrations
took place.

spoke about the alternatives to using disposal nappies, Sign
with your Baby showed a video promoting ways to communicate
with your baby using a signing technique and Baby Hut demonstrated
ways to carry a baby from birth - 2 years using a simple cotton
sling, which has been used through-out the world.
The Brighton Baby Show was aimed at parents-to-be, new parents,
families and those who care for a child under the age of 5
years. Whilst parents browsed around the various exhibitors,
children enjoyed the free entertainment from Absolute Fun.
There were visits from Santa Claus and Paddington Bear, the
mascot of the nominated charity of the event, Action
Research.
