COMMUNITY GROUPS


MENS FELLOWSHIP
The Fellowship has a membership of 25 and welcomes men from the congregation and the local community to its monthly meetings. Speakers covering a wide range of topics are invited to the meetings in addition to visits of local places of interest. Contact

Youth CELL GROUP
The "Cell group" is a group of 11-16 year olds which meet on Sundays from 5.00pm-7.00pm at Phoenix Farm Methodist Church, Wollaton Avenue. The group play games, chat and food is ALWAYS provided, so if you'd like to go along, why not contact

GEDLING LADIES
The Gedling Ladies meet in the Memorial Hall, Blackburn Room, on the second Tuesday of each month from 7.45pm. A programme of interesting speakers and events continues throughout the year.


MEMORIAL HALL
The Gedling Memorial Hall is controlled by the church but is administered by an independent committee. It is run as a village hall that can accommodate 150, and is located at the junction of Main Road and Arnold Lane, opposite the church. It is self-financing, raising funds through public lettings. MOTHERS UNION
This is a thriving organisation meeting on the first Wednesday of each month, in the Memorial Hall. There are 30 members many of whom support the church in other ways.


HALLOWED CRAFTS
This is a group otherwise known as the Needlecraft Workshop that meets in church from 2-4pm Wednesdays on a weekly basis (during the church's open day). The groups has made banners for Advent, Christmas, Easter, Pentecost and to commemorate the millenium, as well as tapestry altar rail kneeler cushions.


WOMENS INSTITUTE
The group meet on the first Tuesday of each month at 7.30pm in the Memorial Hall.


GEDLING VILLAGE PRESERVATION SOCIETY
The Society was established to help preserve the village atmosphere of Gedling and has regular contact with Gedling Borough Council over planning development, and environmental issues. Members receive a regular newsletter, and meetings and social events are organised on a bi-monthly basis. There is an ongoing project to make a record of local buildings of interest.

TAKE A BREAK
What is the "Take-a-break" Carers' Support Group?
A group where people who look after friends, relatives, partners or neighbours with an illness or disability can meet together, talk about their situation, share ideas and listen to speakers on subjects chosen by group members.

Where do I get more information?

Can the person I look after come with me?
Yes, but please let us know in advance, so that suitable arrangements and activities can be organised.

How do I get there?
There are buses which travel along Burton Road, Carlton. Ask for the stop nearest to Tesco's. Some buses, including the 25, 26, and 28, stop outside the church.
If coming by car, we suggest you park in the Church car park.

Is the group part of the Church?
No. We are an independent group open to carers from all faiths and backgrounds.

When does the group meet?
Every Monday morning (except Bank Holidays), 10.00am to 12.00noon, at St Paul's Church, Carlton.
