Started playing Hammond
for Helium Divers a.k.a. The Dilemmas. The drummer (Kieron) encouraged
me to reform AOP themes with him, Sean Kelly on bass, and Steve Kihuth
on guitar (I was in a band called the Satanic Nurses with Steve and
Goddy playing drums). Goddy joined us on vocals. I discovered Jacques
Dutronc’s music when on tour with the Helium Divers in France.
Replaced Kieron in AOP with Ravi. Bruce Brand stood in on drums for
Ravi as a one-off, then replaced Steve Kihuth on guitar when he left.
Sean left to be replaced by John Holds.
Toured the Netherlands with Billy Childish and the Blackhands playing
accordion when Bruce told me their regular guy had dropped out.
Did Dutronc as a joke because my brother was doing a serious Serge
Gainsbourg covers band called Faut Parler.

Play Sci-Fi conventions,
culminating in the 'Space: 999' convention in Leeds. Also played bass
for a band called the Straight with Rene Miller and Simon on guitars
and Goddy on drums.
Played a Glastonbury tent gig with that. Recorded first parts of AOP
originals album. Tim left to work in France and project stalled. |

Followed the Honey Smugglers
to Amsterdam and Hamburg on tour. Supported them with the Herbs (our
first gig in several years). |

Record/release the Herbs
EP with insurance money from stolen stereo. Josh Collins did the sleeve.
Sell very few. Try to play TV themes with The Herbs but there are
'band tensions', so I form the Adventures Of Parsley to do it instead.
 
I play bass and sing, Holds moves onto drums and my boss Tim Fawcett
plays guitar. Ian Klein plays bass and I play keyboards when we do
TV theme conventions.
Record/release 'That Room' (anti-Band Aid single a year after their
Christmas hit). Sell very few. |

John Holdsworth, Stuart Paterson and later Steve Hillier. Record the
