LONDON PAYS TRIBUTE TO LATE SIDIQUE FOFANAH
The Sierra Leonean musician, Abu Bakar Sidique Fofanah, of Super Combo fame died on 5 October 1999 aged 53 years. He was buried on 8  October.

A 40 day memorial ceremony was held for him on Sunday, 14 November. Fitting and lavish tributes were paid to him by members of the his musical fraternity. 

About 300 friends and sympathisers attended the day of tribute, which included performances from Super Combo (the deceased's former band), Abdul TeeJay of Rokoto, Ade Foster Jones, Afro International Band, and King Masco. Nationalities from African, Caribbean and European countries with whom he worked throughout his life were there to honour his memory. 

The ceremony commenced with prayers and incantations for the soul of the deceased followed by tributes from close friends and relations. A special homily was delivered by Mrs Fadimah Zubairu, wife of the deceased's elder brother, Mohammed, of Manchester (UK).
