1. Can I have recordings from you on MD ( minidisk ) format ?
Sorry NO, I have no way of cloning them, I do NOT have 2 minidisk machines.
2. Can you transfer your MD shows onto CDR format for me ?
Eventually yes. My priority is the transfer ( and proper restoration ) of TAPE recordings to CDR format.
I currently have a six months backlog of such tasks underway. Please understand and be very patient but do feel free to check back regularly on the site for updates and amendments. Thank you!.
3. Can I buy some of your recordings ? You say nothing on my list you really feel the need to listen to, I really want some of your shows ! :(
Short answer " NO " Long answer, I appreciate your frustration as I have been in your position many times in the past and in some cases these days I'm in your situation too. However, I am NOT a bootlegger. I am a private collector and enthusiast.
4. Can I send you blanks to cover your costs ? You say nothing on my list you really feel the need to listen to, I really want some of your shows ! :(
Short answer " NO " Long answer, I appreciate your frustration as I have been in your position many times in the past and in some cases these days I'm in your situation too. I'm led to believe that the practice of what is commonly termed B & P ( blanks for the shows to be cloned onto and "extras" to cover postage costs ) is illegal in my country. I'm sorry, I cannot help you in this way.
5. I cannot find the blanks you want me to use, I use ( ******* ) I've never had problems, I'll use them ok ?
No, please don't. I understand some people have difficulties procuring certain blanks, I offer to supply the blanks in such cases. Thanks for raising this before sending me anything. All anyone needs to do is tell me in advance, I'm quite fair.
6. I think you are difficult to deal with, you have too many rules and regulations, its only trading bootlegs after all and its my hobby not work, won't you compromise ? For example, those blanks you specify I can't find and they are expensive anyway, I can buy other brands of blanks much cheaper. Lots of my shows have pops and clicks and some have gaps between the tracks, you are a bit fussy aren't you ?.
The blanks are quality product, quality is not expensive it's priceless. The difference in price is minimal in real terms, for example think how much you would have to pay if you were buying a bootleg from a trader!.
I do compromise, I understand some people have difficulties procuring those specific blanks, I offer to supply the blanks in such cases, all you need do is tell me, I'm quite fair.
I do not want cdr's that have digital faults or gaps between tracks : period. That's just me, if your copies are like that please tell me before going ahead with any swaps PLEASE.
On the contrary, I am not difficult to deal with, it is very easy to swap with me, there are no secrets nor hard work involved. My homepage includes the " swapping rules and disclaimer " you refer to and dislike. That page gives clear indication and much detail, anyone proceeding past that page has entered into an agreement with me to honour and respect my polite requests and should fully understand that. Few people appear thrown by it, they are not orders, merely a polite request. If you cannot or will not adhere to them I have no problem with that at all provided you don't swap with me. Don't cause yourself problems, please look elsewhere. Like I said, read my requested instructions and follow them, it really is that straight forward and easy :)
7. You take it a bit seriously, whats it all about ?
Not so much seriously as passionately :) My long term aim is to have a diverse musical library of unreleased recordings to be proud of and to enjoy, an archive with emphasis on * quality * to share with and hopefully provide others with aural pleasure. To preserve * quality * documentation in praise and support of the musicians I enjoy listening to and that have worked hard to provide us all with great entertainment. Too much classic material is being lost and ruined forever, I find it very sad and deflating. When I fly from this world and into the next room family members that are left will be able to find my wishes regarding my collection detailed in my will that I made some years ago. Ultimately if they cannot carry on the mantle then the unreleased material at least is to go to the N.S.A. ( National Sound Archives ) in London.
