Susan and Martin Weinert are two talented German musicians, hard working and warm hearted. Anyone that knows anything about Jazz and fusion will already be aware of how difficult this genre is to promote, it just isn’t fashionable or commercial. Now try and appreciate how difficult it is for Susan and Martin to break into the jazz scene of countries outside of Germany, a very tough call !. I have accepted the challenge of UK Manager and taken it upon myself to foster them here in England and I hope to successfully promote them which is what they deserve. I also hope that many of you will discover what you have been missing :-) Well, enough trumpet blowing about me..... They play as a trio simply called “The Susan Weinert Band” Susan on lead guitar ( made by Coura ), Martin on bass ( Warwick ) and Hardy Fischoetter on drums ( Yamaha ) In tandem there is a duo project ( Synergy ) in an acoustic setting with Susan on classical guitar and Martin on upright. This is unsurprisingly more straight ahead jazz with classical overtones. |

Their official website can be found here http://www.susanweinert.com/index1.html which is available in English text as well as of course German. Much more detail is available at the site including short soundbites from their expanding catalogue of cd’s. So far they have made four studio cd’s as a trio plus their first live release called “ Triple Talk“ which features “The Kobayashi Syndrome” from their “Point Of View” cd, arguably the release that would appeal most to the jazzer and “Hopeless Case” from “Crunch Time” their more rockier cd which should appeal more to the fusion brigade plus there is plenty of loose jamming based style of improvisation to be heard on this great live cd :-) As a duo their inaugural release is “Synergy” featuring great numbers like “Bubu” and “Dance Of Joy”. Each cd has its own merits and individuality, please check them out and do feel free to contact me should you wish to seek advice on which ones should suit your tastes and are recommended purchases …. but hey, the short simple answer is get them all, they are all great ! :-) Seriously, do not be put off by high price tags for imports you may see available on the internet, for example from the $tates. I know these cd’s are difficult to find in high street stores so look no further than Skip Records here http://www.skiprecords.com/home.php or better still go to the concerts, you will have a real good time and find the complete catalogue for sale after show time. The band will happily sign your cd purchases for you :-) It is also possible to purchase the cd’s from Amazon over the internet. Click here for a short mpeg clip of Susan & Martin :-) Last but not least, if any of you reading this are concert promoters in England or have any connections in the music business that can assist me in getting any gigs secured for the band here in England then please contact me directly as soon as possible. |
