Can you imagine if there was a band here in Britain, largely unknown to the media, who inspired a small but growing body of fans to travel long distances for the privilege of hearing them play? Imagine that they did this by playing a unique blend of rock music which took as its starting point the song structures and the instrumental vigour of the 1970s (think Pink Floyd), and combined this with the vitality of Celtic music and the ability to put out an emotional ballad as well. You don't have to imagine: this is Mostly Autumn.
It is difficult to think of an experience which matches the intensity of seeing this band playing live. Somehow, they manage to create a moving personal experience for each individual member of the audience: it's as if they're playing just for you, irrespective of the number of people crowded in around you. Their studio albums are fine achievements in their own right, but you really must see them live to appreciate what I mean.
