Favourite Links
Here are a few links to my favourite sites on the web

Genealogy

Nottingham Family History Society
The place to start for genealogy in Nottinghamshire
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints
The place to start for genealogy on the internet
The 1901 Census of England & Wales
When it works, this site is a wonderful resource. Be warned though, it can prove to be expensive!!
The 1837 Census of England & Wales

Another site with census access, this time the 1831. This too is  a wonderful resource.

The National Archives
This is a government site which brings together the old Public Records Office and Historical Manuscripts Commission.
Brenda's Genealogy Pages
This lady is investigating various surnames - Barthorp, Barthrop, Barthrope, Bathrop, Baythorp, Baythorpe, Baythrop to name but a few.
Sheffield Family History Society
The place to start for genealogy in Sheffield
BDM Index Website
A subscription based site which provides access to scanned records of births, marriages and deaths.
FreeBDM  Website
As the name suggests, this site  provides access to records of births, marriages and deaths but free.  This site is still 'work-in-progress' and some searches will come back blank, but their efforts are much appreciated.
Bassetlaw  Museum Website
This site is is run by Bassetlaw District Council, which covers North Nottinghamshire, and includes the two market towns of Retford and Worksop.  The site includes the "Welchman Archive" a photographic collection containing over 27,000 photographs of the towns and villages of North Nottinghamshire from about 1870 to the present day.

General Interest (Mine)

Henderson's Relish
Rarely seen outside Yorkshire unless escorted by armed guard, this delicacy is known locally as 'Gods Gravy' - with good reason.
Pathι News
This site houses 75 years of British history in the form of news reels.  Lower quality clips are available for free download, or you can put your hand in your pocket for the good stuff.  An excellent site and well worth a visit.

 Bartrop  Sites

Emma Bartrop
Number One (and only) daughter has been bitten by the need to create her own site - positive proof that madness is heredity?
Richard & Janet Bartrop

Two brave teachers trying to make a difference in Africa  www.bartrop.org

Richard Bartrop
The man is a genius!  At the very least, a talented artist with a vivid imagination.
Bartrop Real Estate
You really should buy your next house  from this organisation!
