Can I send gifts or money to my sponsored child?
Sponsors are asked not to send individual gifts to their sponsored child. The pleasure of giving and receiving gifts from one sponsor can be offset by jealousy among the children who do not receive a gift. Too many gifts may encourage dependency and exaggerated expectancy whereas Amala is seeking to develop initiative and independence. However, we do encourage the sending of paper items such as pictures (the children love colour pictures, especially those of animals, sports and buildings), postcards and stickers. These they can keep and share with their friends.
