Can I correspond with the child?
We are happy for you to write to the child if you wish. We strongly recommend that you send only picture postcards or photos with a clearly printed message which can be translated for the child by a member of staff. A few lines about yourself, your family, where you live, and the animals and crops in this country are best. Children at Amala speak Tamil but are learning English as part of their daily education. Even so, their English at the beginning of their study will be very basic and it is unlikely that sponsors will receive written correspondence from the child in their early years. The child may draw a simple picture which they could send to you.
