The Alvis Salamander/Pyrene
Mark 6 range of crash tenders which entered Royal Air Force service
in the 1950's were a very advanced design for that time. Does
anyone please have information or photographs either about these
vehicles, or particularly the ones which saw service with the
Royal Canadian Air Force, the Ceylon Air Force, or similar but
Foamite bodied Alvis Salamanders which it is believed went to
South Africa ?

The Thornycroft Nubian/Pyrene
Mark 7 crash tenders followed the Mark 6's into Royal Air Force
service in the 1960's. Both types of vehicles were all withdrawn
from service many years ago now.
