Northbourne Poor Rate 1913 - 1926
The table of names below is derived from the Poor Rate receipt books for the Northbourne parish between 1913 and 1926. They provide an overview of property and land ownership. In most cases there is no indication which property or land it refers to, so the receipts can only be used to give a rough idea of ownership. It is also worth noting that Northbourne at this time was different from the modern parish. Formerly it also included Ashley, as well as detached portions at Tickenhurst, Napchester, Minacre, and West Studdal.
If a name occurs from 1913-1926 it is only inferred that this is the same person throughout this period, as it is possible that other family members with the same name or initial could have taken over the ownership. A date of death, if known, is indicated with † e.g. (†1914). If the name occurs after this date the executors were paying the rate. (†<1913) means a person died some time before 1913.
Additional information on some of the names can be found at the bottom of this page.
