Wyborn Family 1594 - 1902
The following is based on S. Fletcher Weyburn's 'Weyburn - Wyborn Genealogy', published in New York in 1911:
WILLIAM WYBORNE and NORTHBORNE COURT
……. In 1795 all the parties interested in the estate [Northbourne Court] joined in conveying their respective shares to several purchasers under mentioned:
"To James Tolland [or Tillard], Esq. of Streetend Place near Canterbury, Northbourne Court Lodge, farm and lands.
To Robert Thomas Pyott,[1] Esq. stone heap farm.
To WILLIAM WYBORNE site of the late Mansion House, gardens and long lane farm.
To Mr. John Parker, cold harbour farm, etc., etc.
The whole purchase monies amounting nearly 30,000 cl. The whole estate contained nearly 1,100 acres, all title-free [tithe-free] except about forty acres."
The Mansion of Northborn Court was pulled down in 1750. Near the house
was a handsome chappel formerly used by the Abbot and Convant of St. Augustine
when he visited the mansion, and of age 1128. Anno. 29 King Henry I." (Thonis

In the 34 year of King Henry VIII. Given to Archbishop of Canterbury.
Now held on a beneficial lease by MR. JAMES WYBORNE, who resides here, whose father WILLIAM WYBORNE rebuilt the mansion of this manor. His son James, a present lesee, married Rebecca Bargrave, by whom he had two sons, Bargrave and James, and three daughters, Francis who married John May, Gent. of Deal; Eliza who married Capt. Dean of Berkshire Militia, and Rebecca.

DANIEL, married Elizabeth, (buried at Stourmouth, July 28, 1594. Probably mother of William Wiborne).
WILLIAM WIBORNE, of Stourmouth, yeoman, married (1) Isabel ------- . Buried at Stourmouth. Married (2) Margaret ------ daughter of ------- Hall of Whitstable, December 1605. Buried at Stourmouth, August 23 1610. Married (3) Jane Twiman at Stourmouth, September 16, 1611. Will dated 1636.

Daniel Wyborne formerly of Stourmouth yeoman, later of Northbourne, born
August 22, 1613 (of Jane 3rd wife). Surveyor of "Norborne" Parish, chosen
1669. Ignored the heralds summons to claim his right to arms at visitation
of Kent, 1665, about which time "the plague was hott at Norborne". Married
(1) 1633, Ann, daughter of Thomas Gurney of Coldbrat, yeoman (born 1610).
Married (2) Mary Bullman Herne, widow 1671. Will dated 1684.

William Wyborne of Hull in Shoulden, Kent, (son of Daniel), married (1)
Anne daughter of William Allen of Shoulden, June 16, 1669. She was buried
there December 18, 1673, aged 28; married (2) 1674 Elizabeth, daughter of
------- Oldfield, buried at Shoulden, September 1, 1680, aged 28; married
(3) Elizabeth, daughter of ------- Goldfinch of St. Lawrence, Thanet at Elmstone,
October 3, 1681; married (4) Martha Hare of Dover, widow June 11, 1691.
Children by first wife, Ann:
1 Daniel, baptized at Shoulden, October 22, 1671. Became lessee of manor of Hull and Shoulden with its rectory in 1703. Buried in the church about 1740. Will dated June 1, 1739. Proved 1741. Married (1) Ann -------, baptized at Shoulden, September 19 1669; married (2) Susan Overton of Co. Norfolk (Hasted), Qt. Margary Overton buried at Shoulden, July 18 1733.
2 William, baptized December 4, 1673; buried December 11, 1673.

JOHN WYBORNE (1650 - 1708)
John Wyborne (son of Daniel), baptized at Northbourne 1650; buried there
1708; married Elizabeth, daughter of ------ Court of Reculver (born 1655;
buried at Northbourne, 1705) [Parish register records John buried 27 Sept. and a Elizabeth Wybourn buried 12 Sept. 1708]

WILLIAM WYBORN (1705 - 1769)
William Wyborn, only son and heir of Daniel, was baptized at Shoulden, July 15, 1705, died April 17, 1769, Monumental inscription in church. Will dated June 4, 1768. Proved in London, May 13, 1769. Rebuilt the mansion of Hull (Hasted). Held lands &c in Deal, Ringswold [Ringwould], Ripple, Great Mongeham and Woodnesborough. Married Eleanor, eldest daughter of Samuel Goodyere [Goodere], Esqr. And sister of Sir John Dinely, Bart, of Charlton, Worcester. Will dated November 2, 1772. Proved London, March 2, 1775. Buried in the "Chapel Yard" Deal.

7 Joseph, baptized at Shoulden, July 6, 1745. Druggist and "chymist" at London 1768-1780.
8 William, baptized at Shoulden, May 1, 1747, buried there May 4, 1747.

10 George, baptized at Shoulden, July 25, 1749, buried there May 17, 1749.
11 Bethel, baptized at Shoulden, March 10, 1750. Owned farm at Fordmead (Hasted). Married ---------.
12 James, baptized at Shoulden, April 5, 1752 (baptized March 13), of Hull Court. Held manor of Hull and Shoulden and purchased manor of Deal. Member of the firm of May, Wyborn, White and Mercer, Bankers, Deal (1823). Died March 29, 1826. Will dated September 16, 1825. Admin. January 13, 1830. Memorial tablet in Shoulden Church. Married 1782 (?) Rebecca Bargrave of Eastry Court, last lineal descendant of family, who died September 29, 1839, aged 86, will dated April 6, 1833, codicil November 1, 1834. Proved at London, November 8, 1839. Adminx. To her husband's will 1830.
Arms: - Sable, a fess between three swans proper.
Susanna Wyborn, daughter of Daniel, baptized June 2, 1707. Married John
Denne.

1 Robert Wyborn, son of Robert and Afra, baptized at Northbourne February 28, 1721/2. Qt. Buried there 1790; married Hester Hall of same place, Spr. At St. George's Canterbury, June 4, 1750, by licence. Buried at Northbourne October 18, 1801.
2 John Wyborn, son of Robert and Afra, baptized at Northbourne, June 14, 1724.
3 Daniel Wyborn, son of Robert and Afra, baptized at Northbourne, June 24, 1726. Buried there July 12, 1793; married (1) Sarah Jones 1758. She was buried June 20, 1766, no issue; married (2) Elizabeth ---------. They had two children.
4 William Wyborn, son of Robert and Afra, baptized at Northbourne, June 13, 1729, married -------.
5 Thomas Wyborn, son of Robert and Afra, baptized at Northbourne, March 3, 1731/2, married -------.
6 Richard Wyborn, baptized at Northbourne, January 18 1735/6, married -------.
CHILDREN OF JAMES AND REBECCA WYBORN
1 Bargrave Wyborn, son of James and Rebecca, born at Shoulden, 1783. Cornet 18th Dragoons, December 25 1800, Lieutenant of the same, October 29 1802. Married Sarah daughter of Admiral John McDougall, formerly of Ripple, Kent, February 3, 1803. Called to Bar Inner Temple, June 27, 1809. Died at Corsier, Red Sea on his way home from Calcutta, July 13, 1837. Will dated, February 17, 1837, then at Calcutta. Memorial window in Shoulden Church. She survived him and was adminx to his estate 1838, and she died 1866/7.
Children of Bargrave and Sarah Wyborn:
1 Sarah Elizabeth who married John David, a doctor whose family came from South Wales. John David and Sarah Elizabeth spent many years on the Isle of Wight, Hampshire.2 Isabella Frances, born 1814, married 1840 her cousin, Sir James Parker Deane, Knight O. C. (younger son, born 1812) D. C. L. 1839, O. C. 1858 H. M's Admiralty Advocate 1868. Chancellor of the Diocese of Salesbury, 1871, and Vicar General of the Archbishop of Canterbury, 1872. P.C. 1892. Died January 3, 1902, buried at Brookwood Cemetery. She was admix to her father's will October 21, 1867. Died February 17, 1894, buried at Shoulden. Isabella and James Parker Deane had two sons and three daughters.
2 James Wyborn, son of James and Rebecca, was born at Shoulden. Lieutenant 65th Foot, March 2, 1798. Captain 60th Foot, April 11, 1800. Died at St. Vincents of yellow fever, June 18, 1803. ["A very promising young officer - Gentleman's Magazine]
3 Frances, daughter of James and Rebecca, born 16 February 1777. Married John May, gentleman of Deal. Children: Thomas Baker May, Esqr.
4 Elizabeth, (1778-1833) daughter of James and Rebecca. Married Captain Henry Boyle Deane (1768-1840) of the Royal Berks militia of Hurst Grove, Berks. Their son, James Parker Deane, married his cousin, Isabella Frances Wyborn. Elizabeth died in France.
5 Rebecca Anne, (1780-1868) daughter of James and Rebecca. Married Captain Christopher Wilson 22nd Foot, (Died of wounds at Port Lois, Isle of France, June 12, 1811, account Gentleman's Magazine p.296, 1812). She was executrix to her mother's will 1839.

SANDWICH BRANCH
William Wyborn, was born in 1678. He was Jurat for many years in Sandwich,
and Mayor of that town in 1735 and 1746. See Monumental inscription and arms
in St. Clements Church, Sandwich. Died March 8, 1764. Married Mary -----,
born 1681. Died May 12, 1730. Monument in St. Clements Church, Sandwich. He
had brothers, Thomas and Robert, and sister, Mary.

1 William, born 1716. Died 1751.2 Joshua, Lieutenant R.N., born 1720. Died 1745, will dated June 1, 1742. Proved at London, May 5, 1752.
3 Mary, married John Bradley, Surgeon, (Monument in St. Clements Church, Sandwich) who had William and Stephen.
John Wyborn, baptized at Northbourne (?) 1755. Died April 7, 1836. Buried at St. Peter's, Sandwich. Married Ruth ------, born 1747; died February 28, 1823. Buried at St. Peter's, Sandwich.
Children:
1 John, Captain R.N., baptized at St. Peters, Sandwich, 1781. Will dated February 5, 1846, died October 6, 1846. Buried at St. Clements, Sandwich (O'Byrne's Nav. Biog. 1849); married Isabella, daughter of ----- Norris, and sister of Dr. Edwin Norris and noted Assyriologist and scholar. Executrix to her husband. Will dated April 23, 1847. Died June 18, 1847, aged 60.
2 Elizabeth, died unmarried, March 7, 1812, aged 23. Buried in St. Peter's Churchyard, Sandwich.
3 Mary, married John Rider Norris, died in London, September 25, 1815, aged 36, Monumental inscription in St. Peter's Churchyard, Sandwich.
4 Richard, died on board H.M. Ship "Sparrowhawk" of Barcelona, August 20, 1810. Monumental inscription in St. Peter's Churchyard, Sandwich, aged 19.

1 John of Seaton Devon, executor of his mother 1847, died 1866, aged 51, married Jane Matilda, daughter of John Brown, Esq. Died at Hersham, Walton-on-Thames, February 3, 1896, in her 73rd year.
2 Emily, died unmarried, October 18, 1844, age 25, Monumental inscription in St. Clements Churchyard, Sandwich.
3 Helena, died unmarried, October 5, 1846, aged 22, Monumental inscription in St. Clements Churchyard, Sandwich.
Notes
[1] - In the 2nd edition of Hasted's History Vol IX p.438 (1800) he says 'Mr Pyott has lately sold Stoneheap farm to Mr. Leonard Woodward, of Ashley Borough'.
Anne Sandys married Charles Pyott in 1731. The Pyott family were from Canterbury; two elaborate wall tablets can be found in St Martin's church, Canterbury. On the north side of the chancel arch: -

Roman numerals translate as: ROBERT THOMAS PYOTT 5 July 1804 aged 65. ANNE PYOTT 24 July 1816 aged 83.
