The Challenge Cup

Alloa won the Challenge Cup in the 1999/2000 season, it was the first major trophy they have ever won. Alloa defeated many full time clubs including Airdrie in the second round and Inverness Cally Thistle in the final, so it shows the high standard of players Alloa had to defeat to reach the final.

The final was a 4-4 epic, that ended in a penalty shoot-out. Alloa ‘Keeper Mark Cairns scored a penalty, then saved Cally’s final penalty that brought the cup back to Recreational Park.

In the 2001/2002 season Alloa were in the final again, here is how they got there.
