Orchard Cottage

Slapton, Near Kingsbridge, South Devon

Orchard Cottage, a Grade II listed thatched cottage nestles deep in the centre of the village opposite a stream. Created by my family over 50 years ago from three cottages, two thirds of the cottage is considered to be five hundred years old and is thatched whilst the ‘newer’ part has some Georgian features. The cottage was designed as our ‘family retreat’ 50 years ago and is now being enjoyed by the third consecutive generation of our family.	Orchard Cottage
The Garden	It is the perfect place to escape from the pressure and pace of today’s world. There is no telephone (a telephone box is opposite) or television. The cottage has a liberal supply of books, traditional games and a good ‘sound system with a selection of CDs. Part of the unique magic of a stay here is to revitalise conversation, card games and reading.
Our family and especially my now grown up children have benefited greatly from escaping to this environment where life does not revolve around the television and ‘family life’ returns to what it could be.
