The
mid-1980s saw the planning permission for the St Wulstan's housing
estate being granted. As part of the permission 55 acres of land
were handed over to the district council to be made into a nature
reserve.
In 1994, the hospital buildings were demolished, and subsequently
wildflower seeds were sown and 4,000 saplings were planted. The
reserve officially opened on April 25th1997 and has since become
a great resource locally for people and wildlife.
