Taylor, composition with Ian Spooner, and clarinet with Gillian Thorn
(CBSO).

- BA (Hons) with first class honours at Newcastle Polytechnic. Studied
clarinet with Graham Evans (Northern Sinfonia) and composition with Dr
Steve Ingham (Newcastle University).

- British Academy scholarship awarded for research into graphical music
notation at Newcastle University
- 1991-93 -
M.Mus (Lond.) Masters degree in music composition at Goldsmith’s
College London. Studied composition with professor Peter Dickinson.
