EKCO TMB272 Television
The TMB272 was probably the only British television of the 50's that could run from mains or a 12V battery.
The set also had a built in FM radio that was preset to receive BBC stations.
On 12V the set draws 7 amps. These are great little sets, EEV in Chelmsford even used them for cheap monitors for testing camera tubes (the set's isolating mains transformer makes the set easy to modify for direct video feed).
Most sets have a modified frame feedback circuit, these modifications are not shown in the NEWNES books.
Common faults with these sets are loss of frame linearity due to a leaky frame sync diode and arcing due to the L.O.P.T. plastic structure decomposing.
My set was made up using the chassis from an ex EEV set bought from a scrap yard for £2 and the casing came from a set bought from Andy Emmerson for £40 whilst he was at a Birmingham collecors fair.
The glass on both sets was broken, but I was able to obtain this from yet another set
