INVICTA T102B Television
The INVICTA T102B Television was a single channel TRF table set with a 9 inch CRT, it was designed to recieve signals for the Birmingham area, the T102 being for London reception. The T102 is one of the strangest TV designs, it does however produce excellent pictures. The T102 is the only thing I have seen that uses a transformer which is fed from a mains dropper. Some T102's have a variable capacitor for the line hold control instead a resistor, sets with this modification are 625 line capable. The HT power supply is a voltage doubler circuit using a PZ30 for the two diodes, this valve is highly stressed and the heater-cathode insulation can breakdown which sends the reservoir capacitors into orbit!
The worst thing about this set is that it has two output transformers running at line rate (10.125KHz), one is for the EHT and the other is for the line output, my young ears cannot stand the set being switched on for long!
The picture of the chassis of the T102B was taken a few years ago, at that time I was feeding 625 line video straight in. Now my set is back to normal and is in full working order.
When I bought my set the cabinet was in a very poor state. It has since been restored by David Boynes.

The cabinet on my set is Walnut veneered, I have since seen a set for sale on E-bay which had a slightly different style cabinet in Mahogany Veneer.
