AW Avionics was formed by Andy Wright. I have been an active glider pilot since 1985 and have 1950 hours and hold 3 diamonds and UK 750km diploma. I fly a Nimbus 3T (617) from the Yorkshire Gliding Club at Sutton Bank. I am also a BGA inspector and a tug pilot. I hold a UK Airline Transport Pilots Licence.
Before I obtained my ATPL I spent 10 years working as a principal design engineer for a major electronics company. I soon realised that it should be possible to use modern circuit designs to produce reliable quality inverters for artificial horizons, rather than some of the poor offerings which are currently on sale, and after obtaining the entire artificial horizon stock of a military surplus dealer, decided to make these instruments available to the gliding community at reasonable prices.
Following the sale of BA connect to Flybe I now work for a low cost
airline in Newcastle.
