Background Information
Andrea Sexton (nee Bristol) started riding when she was 9 years old. Like many people she learned to ride at a riding school on hairy ponies! It was when she got her second pony that she started competing in the local Pony Club teams. At first she competed in show jumping and eventing, but even at a young age realised the importance of flatwork training. Her attention to flatwork training often gave her the upper hand against the other competitors.
Following her interest in eventing Andrea worked for former British Olympic team member Jane Holderness-Roddam for one season before embarking on an Equine Science Degree at Bristol University. During the degree course she returned to Jane's for another summer. During this time Andrea met local dressage trainer and Grand Prix rider Tessa Thorne, and started working for her on weekends and during holidays. Andrea then went to work for Tessa after the end of her degree where she made the decision to specialise in dressage. Andrea worked for Tessa for a further 18 months before spending 6 months with, 1996 Olympic team member, Jane Bredin.
Andrea currently trains with Jane Bredin and Dan Greenwood.
In the past 3 years Andrea has built up a successful teaching business. She has ridden up to Intermediare 1 level and is planning to represent Canada at small tour in 2005.
Andrea is based at Billow Farm Livery, Breadstone, Near Berkeley, Gloucestershire.
