Were you there, or did you miss a good night?

1st July First Tuesday: tune night

7th July

Welcome back to old friends Barrie and Ingrid Temple, a smashing harmony duo from Newcastle. Barrie's own songs in traditional style blend perfectly with their traditional material as do accompaniments on English concertina and guitar. To spend an evening in their company is a real pleasure.

A double billing featuring two North East singer-songwriters:

Jonny Kearney from Hexham is a newcomer who won the inaugural Alan Hull singer/songwriter competition in 2007. He's a one-off whose droll songs are a delight, reflecting an idiosyncratic, youthful outlook on life.

Jack Burness from Consett has more years of experience to draw on in his songs of life in the North East. His repertoire also includes songs from a number of modern giants such as John Prine, Loudon Wainwright and Bob Dylan and always includes some good choruses.

6th Oct. Vic Gammon is a noted singer and folk-scholar who heads up the Newcastle Folk and Traditional Music degree course. He's joined by some of the excellent young performers emerging from the course: Lucy Farrell - vocals, fiddle, mandolin; Paul Knox - Northumbrian pipes and fiddle; Hinny Pawsey - fiddle; Emily Portman - vocals.
