Dick
Miles is an old favourite at Stockton and on the maritime
festival scene. He’s an engaging singer, performing traditional
material and his own songs in a laid back style to the accompaniment
of the English concertina. |

The
Wilson Family should need no introduction in their home
area: they are recognised nationwide as one of the foremost vocal
harmony groups on the folk scene. Amazingly, they haven’t appeared
at The Sun as a group since they recorded their “Stocking Tops”
CD here in 1997. This year they celebrate 30 years of singing together
and have a new CD entitled “A Grey Lock or Two”. Sadly,
sister Pat, still recovering from a bad accident, is unlikely to be
with them but brothers Tom, Chris, Steve, Ken and Mike will be there
at full volume! |

Issy
& David Emeney + Kate Riaz Originally from Suffolk,
Issy & David are now based in Somerset. Much of their material
is original but their style is distinctly traditional: fine vocal
harmonies are accompanied by melodeon, guitar & bouzouki. They
are joined by brilliant cellist Kate. "destined to become
important figures on the traditional folk scene, superb songwriting,
great singing and highly accomplished playing, a perfect combination"

Jez Lowe
has been acclaimed as "the best songwriter to emerge
from the UK in a long time" (by no less than Richard Thompson).
Much of his inspiration comes from his County Durham heritage although
his writing-to-order for the new Radio Ballads and the Darwin Project
greatly enhanced both collections. He's hugely entertaining as a performer
too. It will be great to see him back in The Sun - I suggest you get
there early for this one! |

The Raffleites don’t visit us often enough
these days so it’s good to welcome back five females (including
our own Joy) in multi-part harmony. Their wide-ranging repertoire
covers everything from deeply trad. to bang up-to-date contemporary
folk with a few excursions into other genres along the way. Door
money is being donated to the North Tees Hospital Breast Cancer Care
Unit. |
