anne barron - wild about art
welcome to ....
Now in our fifth year of organising this charity art exhibition, Irene Nixon and myself are delighted to say that this exhibition has become an annual fixture in Sheffield which people from all over the UK look forward to and participate in. We have received enquiries from as far away in the UK as Shetland and Devon, and from overseas we have had contacts with Australia, the USA and Sri Lanka.
| HOT NEWS: We are delighted to announce our most successful ever year with
Wild About Art raising a massive £9000 in total for the David Shepherd Conservation
Foundation - £3000 of which came from commission on sales of paintings during the week.
This was a marvellous event kicked off by An Evening With David Shepherd which was
described by everyone afterwards as inspirational. David stayed over (despite the
worst weather of the winter and getting stuck in snow blizzards on his 5 hour drive home!)
to open our Preview Evening and was a delightful and fascinating guest who won over
hundreds more converts to his Conservation Foundation. We would like to thank the
Foundation (and David's small but dedicated and hard-working team) who helped to make this
such a memorable event. Event 2003 (Feb 21st to Mar 2nd inclusive at the Holiday Inn Sheffield West) - we are already working hard on next year's exhibition and have plenty of ideas to make it another special event but we are always open to new ideas so if you have a favourite charity or any ideas for publicising and furthering our interest in wildlife and painting, don't hesitate to call us on 0114 2663156 or 0114 2967357 or e-mail us at the address below. |
ANNE BARRON
Anne, self taught, became a full-time artist and illustrator in 1996, having achieved a lifelong ambition nursed during many years of secretarial work! Her work is mostly commissions of portraits from photographs, often animals, and she specializes in pencil, softcolour pencil and pastel work, with attention to detail and likeness to the original being her forte.Anne also has a passion for cartoons and sells her own cartoon greetings cards at shows and fairs throughout the year as well as from the Scottie Gallery in Crookes where she is resident artist and manager. Anne runs weekly workshops for kids from 5-15 years old and gives demonstrations to art groups as well as accepting commissions for portraits and book illustrations.

IRENE NIXON
A wildlife artist with a passion for all animals and a lifelong interest in painting inherited from her father, Irene works mainly in pastels, watercolour and oils and has a particular talent for capturing lifelike and detailed images of animals and birds. Entirely self-taught, Irene is able to pass on her knowledge in a "no-jargon" way in workshops and demonstrations, and is also available for commission work.
For further details about any of the above, please click on the e-mail address below, or go to the ordering page for details on the exhibition. If you are interested in supporting the exhibition even if you are unable to visit, we would welcome donations of funds for prizes, eg favourite picture in exhibition or children's prizes, or any kind of practical help (free services such as haulage for picking up pictures from around the UK, printing of leaflets, catalogues, display equipment, art materials or any suitable prizes or raffle prizes], we would be delighted to hear from you, however small your donation, please e-mail us now and let us know how you can help.
