MSRA HANDBOOK

The MSRA has published its own handbook for civilian re-enactors. It is hoped this will provide a source of information for anyone interested in civilian and non-combatant re-enactment and also provide guide lines to recreate and 'authentic' impression.
Although designed primarily for MSRA members it is also valuable to any other civil war re-enactment group.
The handbook consists of the following sections:

  • An introduction to the aims of the MSRA and guidelines for an authentic impression.
  • Roles for civilian and non-combatant re-enactment.
  • Useful addresses - postal and Internet.
  • A survey of women's costumes.
  • Period patterns for ration bags, housewife, socks and hospital clothing.
  • Receipts (recipes) for civil war period drinks and biscuits.

The handbook (34 pages, A4, spiral bound) cost £5 and is available from the MSRA tent at events or contact us
