Lightfoot
was
39 when Francis was born and she was the nurse in the Bacon household. When
Francis settled in London as a young artist, she moved in with him.
Whenever times were hard she had no hesitation in shoplifting, and Francis
also sought her advice on the selection of the most attractive responses to
the personal ads in which he offered his services as a 'gentleman's companion'.
They stayed together right through to her death in 1951. When Francis heard
of her death, he was inconsolable and weeping.His devotion was like that of
a son. Michael Wishart a close friend of Francis had wondered whether Jessie
Lightfoot was in fact his mother. Francis was known to have called himself
Francis Lightfoot.

The long but not lost daughter… the photo was taken when I was an entertainer/dancer.
And by another strange coincidence of fate, Lightfoot is my family name.
