Wonderful web-site!
I strayed onto this site trying to follow up a potential lead on my very
elusive gtgtgt grandfather FREDRICK WILLIAM SMITH,
whom I can last trace to
Soulbury on the Beds/Bucks border, where he works as
a butler. Last heard of
March 1850. Rather inconveniently, he dies before the 1851 census, and
so I
have no idea of his age or birthplace (or burial!).
The IGI lists Fredrick William Smith (spelt exactly as it is on his marriage
certificate), father George Smith (another known fact!), baptised
1807
I would be really interested to know if anyone has a connection with, or
knows anything more about, the family of GEORGE and MARTHA SMITH, as I would
like to establish whether this George Smith, is the one I'm looking for: he
also called himself George Shelton Smith and was a hairdresser.
I am happy for this information to be posted on the site.

Dear Julie, I
started to research my maternal line during the summer months
having found my "brick wall" with my husbands family.I
made a mistake and wrote down my GGGrandmothers name
as Bridgen, so wasting
a lot of time and effort and of course coming up empty handed. Well, to cut a
long story short I found the surname I should have been
looking for was BRIDGER, so far I have had lots of success with material
available on the Internet. With the help of a lovely gentleman in Hampshire I
have been
able to trace my way back to Puttenham. My GGGrandmother
was Mary Jane Bridger D/O John Bridger and Charlotte
Harris.. John Bridger was born in Puttenham he was the
son of Richard Bridger and
Mary Budd.
I wont go on but would be very happy to hear from you
if these are any of the Budd/Bridgers in your tree.
Jennifer Harrison, Cambs.
