BIG GRUNTY
ANNOUNCEMENT!
As of July 3rd 08, Bad
Cyborg has moved to
...which is a bit
easier to remember, yes? The site still looks
the same, but I may think about giving it some graphical enhancement
in due course, for those of you who like things a little prettier.
Maybe add some other features too. For a while I'll leave this old
version of the site up so people following old links will at least
arrive somewhere, but it won't get updated with any new fun. Oh, and
I've also got a new email address:
So here's looking
forward to seeing you at my grunty new domain!
(Additional note to JM, aka
'the guilty spark': I've never been able to reply to your emails
because your blueyonder address doesn't seem to work - I tried
repeatedly. If you have another address, please send it.)
---------------------------
Welcome to Bad Cyborg
Mmmm... fresh and
grunty...
If you're looking to get more fun out of the
original Halo and now also Halo 3, you're in the right place because
there's over 380000 words of cyborg-happy yammering here. For H1
there's a huge section of fun and
challenges, including detailed accounts
of the four megabattles now available. The combat tips page may help in the field and there's plenty more
besides, including some biting frontline insights from ace reporter
Suzie! For H3 meanwhile, there's a growing section of novel
fun to explore. See About the site for more about Bad Cyborg itself.
All H1 info is for the Xbox version of Halo,
but I expect most of it will also apply to the PC and Mac versions.
The site is currently word-based, so should download pretty fast if you want to save it
as a magnificent grunty archive to read offline.

Latest
updates
- June 15th:
Added Long-range fun
near rally point alpha, for The
Ark.
- May 26th:
Wow, today I got two
Arbiters on The Covenant! I know I
only posted something just yesterday, but this extreme novelty
seemed to merit an instant report.
- May 25th:
Got the Crow's Nest fun page off to a start with Chieftain
challenge.
- May 16th:
Added No
Arbiter and considerably revised my
advice on setting up the AA gun
megabattle to take account of that
Arby elimination option.
- May 10th:
Added Fun with
ejected Banshee pilots, some novel
fun in The Covenant.
- April 23rd: Added Banshee
hijack from a roof, after the matter
of Banshee boarding came up in the HBO forum - see my forum
post.
- April 21st: Applied the Arial font to the entire site - which
may or may not affect what you actually see, depending on how
you've got your browser set up.
- April 19th: Added Marines on
the beach, some fun in The
Covenant.
- March 30th: Added a follow-up to the AA gun megabattle:
Intercepting
the retreat. Yay! More carnage! Also
added Across
the chasm, and into it.
- March 22nd: Yet more Storm fun and it's the best yet. Be sure
to absorb the full explosive goodness of the AA gun
megabattle. Also posted two snippets
you can use in that fun: Up on
the AA gun and Grav
lift Grunt.
- March 9th:
More Storm fun; Factory
rescue challenge, Mass
assault on the AA gun, and a support
article on Preserving
rocket launchers.
- March 4th:
Detailed two methods of boarding the Scarab fast in The Storm; a
grav
lift jump and a Ghost
jump. Woo-hoo!
- February 20th: Something for the gruntaholics this time. Send some
Grunts into
orbit in The Ark. Yay!
- Feburary 10th: Added Highwire
assault, yet more fun on the
highway.
- January 29th: Added a useful alternative
set-up method for the Tunnel
onslaught fun (made a few other
adjustments too).
- January 27th: Added Tunnel
onslaught and Enemy
retreat to the final barrier, more
fun in Tsavo Highway.
- January 17th: Added Rocketing
flights at the second arena, for The
Ark.
- January 11th: Updated my last two additions. For the hog piece,
the changes mostly revolve around realizing that you can get more
if you jump in at rally point alpha. For the long jump, I found
some extra things to mention: using a trip mine, having a female
Marine along for a change, and watching in Theater mode.
- January 8th: Added more Tsavo fun. Chiefly Infinitely
spawning Warthogs, but also a
Highway
long jump I cottoned onto while
working on the spawning stuff.
- December 27th: Added five items to the Tsavo Highway fun
page.
- December 19th: Added some Hornet
fun with canyon enemies, in The
Covenant.
- December 8th: Added lots of fun for The Covenant. Principally two
Hornet tricks that open the door to novel exploration and combat,
but also six other bits, four of which relate to the Scarab area.
Go scan the level 7 fun
page for goodies.
- November 29th: Added info on Creating multiple Halo 3
saves. Also, in the recent Tsavo
piece on leaving
Marines behind I've given better
info on how to destroy the troop hog.
- November 22nd: Added two bits of Tsavo Highway fun: Leaving
Marines behind at the start and
Cave
exit skirmish.
- November 14th: Added Battles
at the first tower, some hot new fun
in The Covenant.
- November 4th: The Halo 3
fun section gets off to a start with
a bit of Cliff path
slaughter in The Ark.
