Bali Maps & Areas
Bali! - Where will your heart or dreams take you?

KUTA AREA with it's fine surfing waves, miles of glorious
golden sandy beaches, sensational sunsets and more shopping &
entertainment then you can "shake a stick at"! But Kuta
can have too much bustle for some! So be warned! Tuban is
a quieter area of Kuta, but it does not have the same great sands.
Legian is quieter and has
a great beach too. But be advised, the new sunset beach road does
mean most / all "beach front" hotels in Kuta / Legian
north of the "Hard Rock Cafe corner" are not really beach
front any more! Whereas many in Tuban are.
NUSA DUA AREA Not just the 4 / 5 star tourist development
area that you might think. Plenty of fine white sand and water-sports.
But some would say you never get to see Bali in Nusa Dua. Tanjung
Benoa just north, however, does have a more Balinese feel to
it. And Jimbaran Bay bristles with its beach front seafood restaurants
(but not with Balinese - too expensive!).
SANUR AREA with sensational white sandy beaches and
calmer waters, Sanur is also a lot more refined and relaxed than
nearby Kuta. There are a few beach sales people around to "entertain"
you. But the overall feel of the town is much gentler than the Kuta
area.
UBUD AREA the cultural centre of this island. With
arts, crafts, colourful market, rivers and generally a decidedly
cooler atmosphere (both literally and figuratively). An ideal place
to see the "real" Bali, rice fields and some superb river
valley views. It is also a good base for excursions elsewhere.
OTHER AREAS where you can often feel that you are the
only visitor in this tropical paradise, and where the warmth of
the people is only matched by that of the sun. It is a fact that
the north / north east coast remains much drier than the rest of
the island during the rainy season (October to April). Pemuteran
/ Menjangan are ideal for
tranquility and divers / snorkellers. Lovina has been wrongly
branded by some tour books (throw those things away - they get so
much wrong) as a "backpacker" area, when it has much for
everyone. Seminyak / Berawa / Canggu are just north of the
main tourist "drag" (Kuta etc.), so you can enjoy Indian
Ocean tranquility, lower prices, a genuine Balinese feel to your
holiday and still be within striking distance of town. Amed
is THE new trendy / hip (non bar scene) area of Bali (and it hardly
ever rains there). Places like Tirta Gangga, Sideman etc. are going
to reward you with unspoilt views and people of Bali.
Accommodation Advice Many people have a romantic view
of the grass (Alang Alang) roofs used on many cottages. But do remember,
nature likes them too. These are normally where you will experience
small lizards called "Gecko's". They eat the things you
wouldn't and get their name from their night time repetitive cry
(7 times unlucky, 11 times lucky!).
Tile roof buildings are less susceptible to these guests! And block
/ accommodation wing rooms may be less aesthetic, but they rarely
suffer from the same number of visitors!
And don't forget. You can ask the whole world any Bali hotels
/ villas related question on our associated site;
