The Fat Lamb Country Inn Trail Ride

We offer one to three nights accommodation with our two day trail ride at the Fat Lamb Country Inn, which is set in magnificent countryside offering panoramic views edged by majestic fells.
The Fat Lamb offers en-suite accommodation. It has a good reputation for quality food produced on the premises from fresh local ingredients whenever possible and has a traditional well stocked bar.

Day One

Our ride starts at Low Haygarth following a scenic route through fields, woodland, and open fell to Ravenstonedale where we stop for lunch.

Then onto Newbiggin on Lune and across Friars Bottom to Smardale Nature Reserve, a beautiful small valley.

Across the bridge in Smardale Valley

On to Smardale Fell which offers opportunity for some good canters/gallops.

This is followed by Warton Fell and Common which leads us to the Fat Lamb where both yourself and your horse will spend the night.

Day Two

Next day we climb Cote Moor near the Fat Lamb up to the "Clouds Rocks" an unusual limestone pavement area.

The Clouds

We descend "The Clouds" and, weather permitting, we climb again to the heights of Harter Fell offering panoramic views of the area. After a lunch stop we then wind our way around and over fells and through secluded valleys back to Low Haygarth.
