Riding for the disabled in the Woking area
Our riders

We have 12-15 regular riders of varying abilities. Our riders must be able to bear their own weight long enough to get them "on board" as we do not have a hoist. Unfortunately the stable yard is not wheel chair "friendly".

The emphasis of our rides is on fun and we are often told that coming to Rocking Horse is the highlight of the week for our riders

Riding offers disabled people so many benefits: it helps them physically, mentally and socially.

  • Physically: riders exercise muscles that don't always get used in everyday life. Riding can improve physical co-ordination, balance and strength
  • Mentally: horses like other animals, encourage people to express their feelings and thereby improve their communication. All of our riding sessions provide learning opportunities for all.
  • Socially Riding is an enjoyable experience for people to share.

The Riding for the Disabled slogan is "RDA - improving lives"
