NEW MODEL ARMY have their first single for EMI released on April 15. Entitled `No Rest` and backed with `Heroin`, the single will be available as a 7 or 12 inch, the latter featuring `full-length original versions` of both songs, produced and engineered by Mark Freegard. The band are rather miffed by the current bootleg scene, and so for an initial period the 12 inch single will be accompanied by a `bootlegged bootleg` as it were. The bootleg in question contains three tracks - `No Greater Love`, `The Price` and Vengeance` - and was recorded illegally at the Brixton GLC festival last Summer. It then turned up on a certain stall in Camden market where it was acquired by the band. A series of dates have been lined up, with a further eight to be finalised. Confirmed gigs are: London Marquee April 19, 20, 21 (Friday, Saturday and Sunday), Coventry Polytechnic 27, Birmingham Powerhouse 28, Nottingham Rock City 30, Huddersfield Polytechnic May 1, Newcastle Tiffanies 2, Retford Porterhouse 3, Glasgow Queen Margaret Union 4, Manchester Ritz 7, Sheffield Polytechnic 8, Liverpool University 9, Bradford University 10. There will be reduced admission at many of the gigs for UB40 holders and NUS cardholders, and New Model Army only agreed to play the University and Polytechnics gigs on condition that tickets were made available to the general public. |
