Back in 1984 the band use to travel around the country in a hired red V.W. van, travelling in the back with the equipment. After a while it would get a distinct smell which was even worse when they got their first tour bus, (now that stunk). Because they didn't have much money in those days the band and road crew (F.B. - Lighting, Nik the frog - Merchandising, Noddy - Roadie, Tommy .T the Dolphin - road manager) and sometimes Rik (Joolz's road manager), which added up to a lot of bodies, travelled back from each gig nearly every night. Only occasionally like in Scotland they would have bed and breakfast accommodation.
The band was given £5 a day spending money when touring. They didn't complain as they had suggested it themselves. Because the food and drink was supplied at most venues and they were stuck in the van or venue most of the day & night they tended not to spend any money.
