Road Cycling
101
Bike Routes in Scotland, by Harry Henniker ISBN 1 85158 785 3 is the best road cycling
guide to Scotland. Harry, the owner/driver of the BikeBus, became fed up with professional
authors phoning him for information so that they could write cycling guides and eventually
wrote his own.
It covers all of Scotland, not just the tourist areas; information
about where to stay, ferry times, lots of useful phone numbers. The different cycling
areas are contrasted and compared. All the routes are graded for difficulty and there are
lots of suggestions for both long and short tours. There are a few mountain bike routes in
the book but see also mountain biking. For two short
descriptions of what it's like cycling in Scotland see What's it
Really like?
Available from bookshops, larger bikeshops, or direct from the
author price £10 plus (no charge for postage). Many pictures in this web site are
published in the book (at much higher resolution!)
