Cycling trips are usually organised on a voluntary basis by Spokes, The Lothian Cycle Campaign. These are not package holidays, while other people may be willing to help, you have to be able to fix your own bike and pay for accommodation and food. You are responsible for your own safety when riding a bike.
Frequently most of the party will stay in a youth hostel, occasionally you can use a B&B or even camp if you prefer. Groups in youth hostels usually prepare an evening meal on a cost sharing basis. You will be required to help chop vegetables/wash up etc if you take part. It's best to bring some food for breakfast but we will usually get fresh milk.
Unless you are told otherwise, weekends start in Edinburgh on Saturday at 8am from outside Edinburgh Bicycle in Whitehouse Loan. Don't be late! On some weekends the BikeBus takes you to the start only, after that you have to carry your luggage in panniers. If this applies the description will say Cycling With Luggage.
Spokes has group membership so it will not be necessary for you to join the SYHA if you stay in a hostel. Spokes is a voluntary organisation and the organiser is not making a profit out of your trip. If you don't live in Edinburgh, and would like to be picked up at a different point (Fife, Linlithgow etc), we will try to do this. Phone to discuss it. You must travel in the bus, you can't bring a car. If you want to come the organiser will need some money from you. This might not be refundable if you cancel. The cost of transport, accommodation and evening meal for a two day weekend might be about £30 - £40 - ask the organiser.
